Golf in Slovenia

Golf is not a new sport in Slovenia and has been present in the country for over 70 years. Slovenia offers a big enough challenge to even the most demanding golfers to ensure that they will be happy to return. Another advantage of golf in Slovenia is that the distances between courses are not so great and in the space of a single week all golfing enthusiasts can play courses set in the midst of vineyards, in the plains of Prekmurje, on the hills of Štajerska and below the mighty Alps and Karavanke mountains. This great variety and diversity of landscapes also offers visitors unforgettable views and memories.

Bled. Famous for its romantic lake with its fairy-tale island and the imposing medieval castle high on a cliff above it. This fabulous natural setting is also the site of a golf course.

Arboretum Volčji Potok. The course is located near the medieval town of Kamnik, which charms even the most demanding visitor with its picturesque streets and varied calendar of events.

Diners Ljubljana. The Diners Ljubljana golf course is a well-kept and friendly 18-hole course accessible to all. It is located on the local road connecting Pirniče and Smlednik, not far from Ljubljana and the airport.

Grad Otočec. As you arrive at the golf course you are greeted by a view of Otočec Castle on its island in the middle of the river Krka.

Grad Mokrice. With its imposing walls and its romantic park set against a backdrop of a plantation of Williams pear trees, this 15th-century castle makes a powerful impression on golfers and other visitors.

Golf Livada. Moravske Toplice. The Livada golf course and the Terme 3000 spa complex go hand-in-hand, with the course surrounding the resort complex like a green nature park.

Ptuj. Slovenia`s oldest town is not without reason known as the treasure house of the millennia, since this settlement on the Drava has been attracting people since Roman times.

Golf Trnovo. Just over three years ago, Ljubljana got its own nine-hole golf course in Trnovo, on a site situated between the used car market and the southern bypass.

Lipica. Nestled in the shade of centuries-old lindens and oaks, Lipica is the only golf course in Slovenia that is open all year round.

Olimje. This picturesque area by the river Sotla contains the unforgettable beauties of unspoilt nature. In Olimje, just three kilometres from the famous Olimia spa centre, is a 245-metre driving range and a nine-hole golf course.

Zlati Grič. Over a decade has passed since the first `tournament` took place on the vineyard-covered slopes of Škalce: enthusiasts wearing boots played on the future course.

Bovec. The course is located in the area where scenes from the film The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian were filmed.
