World Rowing Championships next year in Bled

The World Rowing Championships 2011 will take place on Lake Bled between 28 August and 4 September 2011. The World Championships will at the same time be the qualifying rounds for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

The World Rowing Championships 2011 will take place on Lake Bled between 28 August and 4 September 2011. The World Championships will at the same time be the qualifying rounds for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Bled`s rowing centre, built in the 1950s, will be renovated for the needs of the World Championships in order to ensure that it meets the high standards necessary for the event and at the same time to improve training conditions for both national and international rowers. In 2011 a modern Bled rowing centre will be ready to host the World Rowing Championships, offering proven and fair competition conditions for the best rowers in the world and the necessary assistance for visitors attending the Championships.

Rowing is one of the most important sports in the history of Slovenia.

Over 20 medals at Olympic Games and World Championships and the successful organisation of World and European Championships on Lake Bled have further contributed to the popularity of this sport.
