The 22nd Biennial of Industrial Design begins in October

On 7 October 2010 the 22nd Biennial of Industrial Design – an international exhibition of industrial design, design concepts, product graphics and information design – opens at the Museum of Architecture and Design. The exhibition includes a selection of 132 innovative, comprehensive, functional and durable design solutions from 24 countries. The best solutions will be presented with BIO Design Awards by the international jury at the opening of the exhibition.

On 7 October 2010 the 22nd Biennial of Industrial Design – an international exhibition of industrial design, design concepts, product graphics and information design – opens at the Museum of Architecture and Design. The exhibition includes a selection of 132 innovative, comprehensive, functional and durable design solutions from 24 countries. The best solutions will be presented with BIO Design Awards by the international jury at the opening of the exhibition.

The Biennial of Industrial Design (BIO) is an international design exhibition with a tradition dating back more than 40 years at which designers, clients, manufacturers and students from all over the world present their latest achievements.

As well as viewing some of the finest design achievements of the last two years, visitors to the exhibition can enjoy a guided visit with an expert guide, attend presentations of individual products featured at the exhibition, try out entertaining interactive applications, take part in creative workshops for children, attend special screenings of design films and visit the two accompanying exhibitions at Fužine Castle: Service Design and Information Design: Examples of Good Practice, and The Wooden Toy. Other attractions include a design bookshop and a special workshop called Shop.

In addition to the main exhibition, a varied accompanying programme will take place at other locations and, in conjunction with numerous partners, offer different groups of visitors a variety of design-related events. These include a visiting exhibition devoted to one of Finland`s greatest architects and designers, Alvar Aalto – Timeless Expressions, the sale exhibition South by Southeast: Fashion Design in Southeast Europe, the travelling exhibition BIO Presents: Best of BIO 21, the exhibition Crystal-Clear Forms, lectures from the international On Information Design series with Malcolm Garrett and Karen Schriver, the expert seminar Interaction Design Shapes the Development of Information, prepared in conjunction with Sonce.net, the new general sponsor of the biennial, and an international conference entitled Cradle to Cradle for the Third Industrial Revolution.
