Slovenia is appearing at the WTM exchange in London with a presentation of the City of Maribor, European Capital of Culture 2012.

This year Slovenia is once again taking part in the global tourism exchange WTM in London. From 8 to 11 November, Slovenia’s tourist facilities and attractions will be presented in a stand covering 173 m2, involving a presentation of 20 different Slovenian tourism companies.

Maribor, capital city of the Štajerska region, is the second biggest city in Slovenia, but at the same time it is attractively small and green. A lively urban pulse with outstanding culture and events, a rich wine tradition enhanced by the oldest vine in the world, exceptional opportunities for entertainment, relaxation and recreation in the natural environment and its famed easy-going openness and hospitality have led Maribor to the honorary title of European Capital of Culture 2012.

On Tuesday, 9 November, at 1 pm, the Slovenian Tourist Board will hold a press conference entitled Maribor – the European Capital of Culture 2012, which will serve to present the main promotional activities for the coming year as well as the city of Maribor and its arts programme, which will be provided in Maribor and partner cities during the time it holds this important title.
