At the beginning of December, Maribor starts to glow in a festive atmosphere with the switching-on of the Fairy Ball festive lights throughout the Old Town.

Christmas and New Year Events in Maribor

The Colourful December festival offers a rich programme of events including:

- art events and concerts in cultural institutions and churches, street performances and open-air concerts by popular artists,
- a lively children`s programme,
- festive fairs
- the biggest live Nativity scenes in Slovenia.

The Festival`s highlight is the popular New Year`s Eve celebration in Maribor`s Old Town featuring top Slovene ensembles and soloists and a large midnight fireworks show.
