Slovenian coast in shades of blue, green and of the sun

Owing to its mild Mediterranean climate, the Slovenian coast is a place for a pleasant break in any season. Its colours are particularly vivid in springtime. The coast boasts an intense blue colour of the Adriatic Sea, invigorating green of the lush Mediterranean vegetation and the warmth of sunshine. Having retained their medieval shape, the cities of Piran, Izola and Koper charm their visitors. Koper with its historical old town represents one of the most picturesque areas of the northern part of the Istrian Peninsula. The rich tradition of the fishing town of Izola has created marvellous architectural treasures and old legends, taking you back to the times when Izola was still an island.

Piran, a medieval town with narrow streets and tightly packed ranks of houses, has reigned for centuries over the bay of Piran. The salt pans, its ideal climate and maritime trade and trade with the hinterland have ensured power and wealth to Piran and consequently the construction of marvellous Venetian palaces, squares and numerous churches. Piran is a town of culture to satisfy your curiosity and desire for beauty in museums and galleries. You can pop into lovely little shops, visit the fruit and vegetable market or a fair of antiquities on Tartini Square.

Portorož boasts a long tourist tradition. In spite of its modern seaside resort look it used to be one of the major European high-end holiday resorts and spas during the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Italian Republic with an extraordinary vibrant cultural scene.

And an invitation to a tour and exploration of Slovenian Istria and its gastronomic delights … Visit one of the local restaurants or inns where they will be happy to serve you the most typical Istrian dishes: traditional “bobiči” (sweet corn minestrone), Istrian “brodet” or fish goulash, gnocchi with game, “fuzi” noodles with truffles and all kinds of seafood specialties. You should also taste “refošk” – an excellent red wine or “malvazija” – the Queen of Istrian wines.

You can also take a walk along the seafront, go jogging on the beach, swimming in swimming pools overlooking the sea or enjoy the health and wellness programmes, excellent culinary delights and a number of attractive trips in the nearby areas … check the offer and choose your spring break destination!
