In february 2001 the same number of arrivals

Preliminary data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia show that compared to January 2010, in January 2011 9% more tourist arrivals and 6% more overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations in Slovenia.

Compared to February 2010, in February 2011 approximately the same number of tourist arrivals was registered in tourist accommodations. Tourists made 2% fewer overnight stays than in the same period of the previous year (the number of overnight stays of domestic tourists decreased by 2% and of foreign tourists by 1%).

In February optimistic results in seaside resorts and in Ljubljana

In February 2011, the highest number of overnight stays was recorded in health (spa) resorts (40% of all overnight stays, which is 4% less than in February 2010). Regarding the number of overnight stays, second placed are mountain resorts with a 29% share and 8% fewer overnight stays than in the same period of the previous year. In February 2011 seaside resorts recorded the highest increase in the number of overnight stays, by 18%. Compared to the same period of the previous year, Ljubljana registered 4% more overnight stays.

In February 2011 tourists from Italy, Austria and Croatia made the highest number of overnight stays

Overnight stays of foreign tourists represented 38% of all overnight stays in February 2011. The highest shares of those were contributed by tourists from Italy (21%), followed by tourists from Austria (14%), Croatia (12%), the United Kingdom (7%), Serbia (7%), Hungary (7%) and Germany (5%).

Compared to February 2010, the number of overnight stays of tourists from Hungary increased by 13%, and those from Austria and Serbia each by 3%. Fewer overnight stays were registered for tourists from Croatia and Italy (each by 6%), Germany (by 13%) and the United Kingdom (by 4%).

1% increase in overnight stays in hotels compared to February 2010

In February 2011, 67% of all overnight stays were registered in hotels, followed by holiday dwellings (10%). Private accommodations – rented rooms, dwellings represented a 4% share of the total overnight stays.

The number of overnight stays increased in hotels and campsites (each by 1%), inns (by 10%) and overnight accommodations (by 4%). In the same comparison the number of overnight stays decreased in holiday dwellings (by 3%), tourist farms with accommodation (by 10%), mountain huts (by 4%) and private accommodations – rented rooms, dwellings (by 6%).

In the first two months of 2011, 2% more overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations compared to the same period of the previous year (the number of overnight stays of domestic tourists decreased by 1% and of foreign tourists increased by 5%). In the same comparison the number of tourist arrivals increased by 4%.
