In April 2011, 17% more foreign overnight stays

Compared to April 2010, in April 2011 14% more tourist arrivals and overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations in Slovenia. There were 12% more arrivals of domestic tourists, who created 10% more overnight stays, and 15% more arrivals of foreign tourists, who created 17% more overnight stays. Data is provisional.

In April 2011, 17% more foreign overnight stays

Compared to April 2010, in April 2011 14% more tourist arrivals and overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations in Slovenia. There were 12% more arrivals of domestic tourists, who created 10% more overnight stays, and 15% more arrivals of foreign tourists, who created 17% more overnight stays.

In April 2011 the highest increase in the number of overnight stays in seaside resorts.

In April 2011, the highest number of overnight stays was recorded in health (spa) resorts (39% of all overnight stays, which is 10% more than in April 2010). Regarding the number of overnight stays, second placed are seaside resorts with a 25% share and 23% more overnight stays than in the same month of the previous year. In the same comparison mountain resorts (15% of all overnight stays) recorded 16% more overnight stays, while Ljubljana (9% of all overnight stays) recorded an 11% increase.

In April 2011 tourists from Italy, Austria and Germany created the highest number of foreign overnight stays

Overnight stays of foreign tourists represented 56% of all overnight stays in April 2011. The highest shares of those were contributed by tourists from Italy (23%), followed by tourists from Austria (18%), Germany (12%), the Russian Federation (6%) and Serbia (5%). Compared to April 2010, more overnight stays were registered by tourists from the Russian Federation (by 76%), Germany (by 33%), Austria (by 28%), the United Kingdom (by 25%), France (by 14%), Croatia (by 10%), Serbia (by 1%) and from some other countries. Fewer overnight stays compared to April 2010 were created by tourists from Italy (by 6%) and from some other countries.

In April 2011 a 17% increase in overnight stays in hotels

In April 2011, 72% of all overnight stays were registered in hotels, followed by camping sites (10% of all overnight stays) and holiday dwellings (6% of all overnight stays). Compared to April 2010 the number of overnight stays increased the most in private accommodations – rented rooms, dwellings (by 21%), overnight accommodations (by 19%), hotels (by 17%) and camping sites (by 15%). In the same comparison the number of overnight stays decreased the most in motels (by 40%), mountain huts (by 24%) and boarding houses (by 10%).

In the first four months of this year the number of tourist arrivals increased by 8% and the number of overnight stays by 6% over the same period last year

In the first four months of 2011, 8% more tourist arrivals were registered in tourist accommodations compared to the same period of the previous year. In the same comparison the number of overnight stays increased by 6%. The number of overnight stays of domestic as well as of foreign tourists increased by 10% over the same period of the previous year.
