The offer of tourist farms in Slovenia is a very important and constituent part of the tourism offer in the countryside, since tourist farms not only provide accomodation and food, but also a comprehensive experience of hospitality, country style of living, cultural and ethnological features of Slovenia and activities in and authentic experiences of nature. Since 1997, tourist farms in Slovenia have been connected by the Slovenian Association of Tourist Farms, which takes care of the general presentation of tourist farms in the market, the development of the offer, information and education of operators of tourist activities at farms, representation of interests of members, etc. The promotional activities carried out in cooperation with the Slovenian Tourist Board, including the catalogue `Friendly Countryside`, have strongly characterized the recognisability of the offer of tourist farms over the last thirteen years, along with the awareness of consumers and the knowledge and favour of the offer of Slovenian tourist farms; in other words, this has provided for at least 80% higher occupation of the capacities of tourist farms in comparison with 1997.

In Slovenia, there are 740 registered tourist farms, of which 288 are farms for trips, 105 are wineries, 30 are wine shops, 8 are camping grounds (for tents) and 309 include accomodation. According to the data of the Slovenian Association of Tourist Farms, farms have a total of 30,300 seats and 3,700 beds. According to the data of the Statistical Office of the RS, 70,663 overnight stays within the category of tourist farms were recorded in 2010, of which 59.5% were by foreign visitors.
