In October 2011, 7% more foreign tourists overnight stays

Positive trends of Slovenian tourism also continued in October. Compared to October 2010, in October 2011, 4% more tourist arrivals and 3% more overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations in Slovenia, whereby foreign tourists generated 7% more overnight stays.

Positive trends of Slovenian tourism also continued in October. Compared to October 2010, in October 2011, 4% more tourist arrivals and 3% more overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations in Slovenia, whereby foreign tourists generated 7% more overnight stays. A review of the entire period of ten months indicates that the number of tourist arrivals increased by 7% and the number of overnight stays by 6% over the same period of 2010.

In October 2011, there were 7% more foreign tourist overnight stays at the annual level

Compared to October 2010, in October 2011, 4% more tourist arrivals and 3% more overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations in Slovenia. In the same comparison, there were 2% more arrivals of domestic tourists, who created 2% less overnight stays, and 5% more arrivals of foreign tourists, who created 7% more overnight stays.

October 2011 saw the most tourist arrivals and overnight stays in health (spa) resorts

In October 2011, the number of tourist arrivals was the highest at health (spa) resorts (28%); these resorts also recorded the highest number of overnight stays, 39% or 2% less than in October 2010. Second place lay with seaside resorts, where 21% of all tourist overnight stays were recorded, or 7% more than in October 2010. In the same comparison, mountain resorts (15% of all tourist overnight stays) recorded a 7% increase in overnight stays. The capital of Ljubljana with a 10% share of all tourist overnight stays recorded an 11% increase.

The Italians, the Austrians and the Germans created more than half of foreign overnight stays in Slovenia in October 2011

Overnight stays by foreign tourists represented 59% of all overnight stays in October 2011. The highest shares of those were contributed by tourists from Italy (20%), Austria (19%), followed by tourists from Germany (12%), the Russian Federation and Croatia (each 5%), Serbia and the United States (each 3%), and Hungary and the United Kingdom (each 2%).

Compared to October 2010, in October 2011, tourists from Austria created 10% more overnight stays and tourists from Germany, 8% more overnight stays. More overnight stays in October 2011 were also made by tourists from Serbia (by 10%), tourists from Hungary (by 36%) and tourists from a number of other countries. At the annual level, the number of overnight stays by tourists from Italy decreased by 1% and the number of tourists from Croatia stayed at approximately the same level as in the previous year.

Hotels in October 2011 recorded three quarters of all tourist overnight stays

In October 2011, 75% of all overnight stays were registered in hotels, followed by camping sites (7% of all overnight stays), holiday dwellings (5% of all overnight stays) and private accommodations – rented rooms, dwellings (2% of all overnight stays).

Compared to October 2010, in October 2011 the number of overnight stays increased the most in youth hostels (by 34%); in tourist farms with accommodation, the number increased by 16%, in hotels by 4% and in private accommodations – rented rooms and dwellings, by 2%.

In the first ten months of this year, the number of tourist arrivals was up by 7% and the number of overnight stays was up by 6% over the same period of 2010

From January to October of 2011, 7% more tourist arrivals were registered in tourist accommodations compared to the same period of the previous year. In the same comparison, the number of overnight stays increased by 6%. In the first ten months of this year, the number of arrivals by domestic tourists increased by 4% over the same period of the previous year and the number of their overnight stays stayed at approximately the same level. Over the same period of the previous year, there were also more arrivals by foreign tourists (by 9%) as well as their overnight stays (by 10%).
