Alpe Adria fair has become the official centre of the region

In the autumn, the working community Alps-Adriatic officially confirmed the Slovenian fair Alpe-Adria as the main tourist event in the Alps-Adriatic region. In the autumn, the working community Alps-Adriatic officially confirmed the Slovenian fair Alpe-Adria as the main tourist event in the Alps-Adriatic region. Being the largest fair event in the area of tourism in the region will only additionally contribute to the positioning of the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana as a tourist centre of the region; in this way, Ljubljana is developing as a recognisable business crossroads of the leading tourist agents in the region and beyond.

The Alps-Adriatic region, including ten individual regions in Italy, Austria and Hungary as well as all of Slovenia and Croatia, is becoming more attractive for organised tourist visits from far away destinations such as China, Japan, USA, etc. As emphasized by Dr. Wolfgang Platzer, the Secretary General of the Community: "…we need a common approach for the marketing of the entire region – namely, the working community extends from Lombardia to Hungary, from Burgenland to the south of Croatia – in interesting tourist markets all over the world."

The next Alpe Adria fair – Tourism and Leisure Time – will be held from 26 to 29 January 2012 in the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, where it has been held annually throughout the years.

The fair made a substantive and geographical breakthrough in the region in 2011 by presenting to the public tourist offer according to the destination from where the exhibitors hail and with regard to products from the exhibition programme. In this offer, a visitor can recognise himself according to four types of tourists, from active to more leisured holidaymakers, hikers and adventurers. A new feature in 2012 will also include a professional meeting of tourist agencies and a chef competition.
