Conde Nast Traveler ranks the Vila Bled Hotel among the best

The American magazine Condé Nast Traveler has published the results of the 2011 Readers` Choice Awards. The Vila Bled Hotel, situated directly on the coast of Lake Bled, was ranked among top 20 small European hotels according to the readers’ choice and placed at the top of the most recognisable European Alpine icons in the category of Lakes & Mountains. Firstly, they were delighted by the location and design, and also highlighted the interesting historical background of the hotel.

The 2011 Readers` Choice Awards reflect the combined opinions of 28,876 Condé Nast Traveler readers rating the cities, islands, and hotels they visited in the past year, and the airlines and cruise ships they travelled with. In the category of Top Small Hotels in Europe (readers’ picks for the best of Europe`s intimate hotels), the Vila Bled, scoring 86.4 points, took 14th place. Among assessments of individual elements, a full 100 points were given to the location and over 90 to the design.

“Gorgeous location and very good food. The hotel is full of history, which our excellent waiter shared with us after dinner. The rooms are enormous with beautiful views.” Leslie Goldenberg, Delaware.

“What a trip! This was one of President Tito`s homes. It is literally on the shore of Lake Bled. Huge suites. Furniture and decor very much `stuck in the 50`s and 60`s,` adding to its charm. Slightly out of town, in a park, but walkable to restaurants.” Leslie Jones, California.
