Camping Bled, which operates within the frame of Sava Turizem, has received an award from the distinguished Alan Rogers Campsite Guide. This is the second award given to Camping Bled by this campsite guide – in 2010, Camping Bled took first place in the active holiday category and this time Alan Rogers awarded it for its innovative offer identified in the Forest Fairy Eco Village, presented on the market by Camping Bled within the frame of the camping concept known as “glamping”.

Every year, the expert and general tourist public await, with interest, the publication of award winners in various categories, selected by Alan Rogers from the best camps listed in their guides. In more than 40 years, Alan Rogers Guides have developed an enviable reputation as the best guides to the best campsites. The Alan Rogers Campsite Awards are designed to reflect the variety and values conveyed in their guides. They have carefully considered more than 2,500 campsites featured in their 2011 guides and have taken into account comments from campsite assessors, the head office team and, of course, their readers.

“We’re glad our Forest Fairy Eco Village is becoming more and more renowned abroad as a unique product in the field of camping tourism and a unique supplement to our existing offer,” commented Nejc Kelbl, the Head of Camping Bled. Before the start of the main summer season, the camp intends to renovate the existing bathroom facility, which is part of the Eco Village, and arrange ten individual bathrooms that their guests will be able to rent for the entire term of their stay. This will provide more comfort for guests during their stay in direct contact with nature. The existing eight wooden huts will also be complimented by two new ones before the start of the season.

Camping Bled concluded 2011 successfully. Despite a poor start to the main season, when, in July, the turnover dropped by almost 20% due to extremely cold and rainy weather, this shortfall was made up by the end of the season. They created almost 89,000 overnight stays – 2% more than in 2010, while revenues increased by 9%, principally because of forest fairies. The season at the camp lasts from April to mid October, but last year, the camp opened their doors during the Christmas/New Year holidays for the second time, since the demand for camping during winter months has been growing. This year, the first guests will be welcomed at Camping Bled on April 1.
