In 2012, Slovenia will continue with promotion on the Chinese market, which also represents a potential market for Slovenia. Together with Croatia, Slovenia will again participate in the COTTM fair – at a joint stand for both countries for the first time. Both countries present themselves as an attractive common destination in the region between the Alps and the Mediterranean.

In 2012, the Chinese market will continue to grow in light of tourist travel. The statistics from the past also indicate that this market has been growing rapidly (in 2011, 11,023 Chinese tourists visited Slovenia, which is 34% more than in 2010; they generated 21,668 overnight stays, which represents 41% more than in the same period last year); moreover, especially the forecasts indicate that, by 2020 more than 100 million Chinese tourists will travel every year.
Chinese tourists travel primarily from larger cities, such as Beijing and Shanghai – Slovenia has been implementing market communication activities primarily in these areas.
