In the end of April, a second meeting of tourist agents and travel organisers with tourist service providers of the destination `New Europe` was organised under the title `New Europe Travel Mart`. The objective of the meeting was to increase the tourist flows in the region of New Europe that has won recognition as a new promising destination. The travel mart brought to Ljubljana new buyers from 12 countries, primarily transmarine markets.

The first meeting of interested tourist buyers from Europe and other continents with tourist providers from the countries of New Europe was organised last April in Dubrovnik. The US company William H. Coleman, Inc. organised the event; the Slovenian partners include the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB), Ljubljana Tourism, Grand Hotel Union and Adria Airways.

The event brought to Ljubljana new buyers from 12 countries. The buyers arrive primarily from transmarine markets, such as the USA, Brazil, India, Mexico and Qatar, while some hail from European countries. The interested parties were able to get to know the tourist offer from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, Lithuania and Poland. Around 50 tourist providers and 40 tourist offer buyers participated at the event.

Maja Pak, M.A., the director of the Slovenian Tourist Board, said: "Such a form of promotion is one of the most efficient, since with relatively small input, we enable the key travel organisers from transmarine markets to get to know Slovenia directly. Namely, the Slovenian Tourist Board carries out certain market activities in connection to other destinations including transmarine markets, which have in recent years indicated a strong increase in the number of tourists and their overnight stays. Another advantage for Slovenia is the forecast that tourists from transmarine countries show more interest for less known and less visited destinations."
