The sea or the mountains? Relaxing pleasure or exciting adventure? Being in the heart of happenings or away from the crowds? Something classical for traditionalists or new for adventurers? Something for the price-sensitive or for anyone who wants to stay close to home, but also discover something new? When selecting a destination for a honeymoon, the choices are unlimited. But Slovenia has everything! The crossroads of the Alps and the Mediterranean, spots for pleasure and discovery, great value for money, a great location right in the heart of Europe… it even has the word `love` in its name!

So, where to head for your honeymoon in Slovenia? Since there are as many options as there are wishes for honeymooners, it is nearly impossible to highlight only one destination; however, we still highlighted the unique Bled that is a popular honeymoon destination for visitors from all over the world. We have also prepared a review of some top destinations in Slovenia that need to be discovered. Newlyweds can quickly decide on only one destination if they so choose; however, considering the short distances in Slovenia, they can connect with several great destinations. Each destination hides an abundance of romantic locations and hotels where newlyweds will feel especially pleasant.

But, let`s start with… BLED! The green-blue lake, island with a church and a medieval castle on an overhanging cliff make Bled the most known feature of Slovenia. The tourist pearl of world recognition on the edge of the Triglav National Park was also among the nominees for the seven new wonders of the world. In the island church of the surprising Lake Bled you can pull the rope to ring the bell and your wishes will come true. The real bell is supposedly sunk at the bottom of the lake, according to legend. An inconsolable widow in the 16th century supposedly cast all her silver and gold in the bell. On the way to the island, a sudden storm sank the boat, together with the bell and boatmen. After the widow`s death, the Pope sent a hallowed bell to Bled island, which now still rings there and fulfils the wishes of visitors from all around the world.

One cannot skip the capital… LJUBLJANA. The Slovenian capital is located in the centre of Slovenia; it is Europe and Slovenia at the same time, offering an excellent starting point to discover Slovenia.

For the active… SOČA VALLEY. One of the most beautiful European rivers, the emerald beauty Soča. From Bovec to Kobarid and Tolmin, full of stories written by nature`s history of the Soča front.

For the curious… THE POSTOJNA CAVE. The only cave in the world where, for 140 years, one can ride a special train under the magnificent underground arches. From there you can discover the legends of the Predjamski grad.

Gracious… LIPICA. The cradle of all Lipizzaner horses in the world, while nowadays one of the most beautiful cultural-historic monuments in Slovenia.

Sunlit and romantic… SLOVENIAN COAST – short but diverse. Besides Piran, one can visit the medieval towns of Koper and Izola, the modern Portorož and the attractive backdrop with sights reaching towards the Alps.

For lovers of nature… THE LOGARSKA VALLEY. Discover one of the nicest glacier valleys and life as it once was.

And last but not least, for relaxation… SLOVENIAN NATURE SPAS. There are 15. They are very diverse, connected to their local environment, united by the benefits of water, tradition, care of health and well-being; total pleasure!

The Slovenian Tourist Board or its nearest representative office can help you to select your own wedding destination.
