Tresor – new hostel with a story in Ljubljana

Ljubljana, whose Hostel Celica, housed in a former military prison, is renowned across the world, now has another special place - the Tresor Hostel. This new themed property, which prides itself on its uniquely decorated rooms, is housed in the premises of a former bank. Even the bank`s vault, where money and other valuables were kept, has been converted for use as bedrooms.

The Tresor Hostel boasts a privileged downtown location, set along a busy pedestrian street just a few steps away from the Old Town and popular meeting spots, such as Prešeren Square with the monument to the most revered Slovenian poet, and the famous Triple Bridge. The hostel was developed in an early 20th century Art Nouveau building, which in its long history, has housed several banking companies. As a unique remnant of the past, the `floating vault` in the basement of the building, has been converted into the breakfast room and a communal area.

The hostel`s owners have preserved the old-fashioned appearance of the former bank premises and integrated some of the banks` interior decoration elements, such as metal vaults and filing cabinets, in designing the hostel’s concept. The property is otherwise furnished to modern standards so as to provide comfortable accommodation. Its total capacity is 104 beds, distributed in 29 rooms, all providing internet access and air condition. Each bedroom is named after a different currency and features interesting quotes about money and finance by various famous people.
