All this abundance of riches is an excellent basis for diverse and varied water adventures at the crossroads of the Alps, Mediterranean, Karst and Pannonian Plain! Slovenia is more than prepared for a refreshing summer!

Water adventures on rivers

From the wild Soča River in Western Slovenia to the lazy Kolpa River in the South-East, and several other rivers in between, where qualified guides can safely lead you through water adventures all around Slovenia. You can even discover the old centre of the Slovenian capital with a canoe! Our tip: the Soča River is surely one of the most visited areas in Europe for all wild water lovers and an excellent choice for everyone who seeks refreshing water experiences on rivers – the emerald Soča River is considered to be one of the most beautiful and cleanest European rivers, while also offering an abundance of activities along the river. Besides the river adventures, the Soča Valley is also an excellent starting point for discovering the Soča Front stories that left a strong mark in this valley.

Water adventures with a sea view

It is true that Slovenia only has 46 kilometres of coast; however, this provides diverse experiences. Sea depths between Piran and Strunjan offer amazing flora and fauna diversity, while Slovenian marinas are excellent starting points for sailors. The Slovenian coast also offers two Slovenian spas right by the sea. Talaso Strunjan is a true talaso therapeutical centre that is recognized for its beneficial treatments, Mediterranean climate, sea water, mud and salt; it is located right by the sea in the heart of a landscape park with the highest cliffs in the Adriatic, including several natural features and 80 kilometres of foot trails. On the other hand, the Terme & Wellness LifeClass in Portorož offers seven well-being centres and provides the most comprehensive thermal, medical and wellness offer in Europe.

From lake to lake

Slovenia has 1300 lakes – the most known lakes are its Alpine pearls Bled and Bohinj, which provide an abundance of active experiences. Bled and its green and blue lake, an island with a church, and medieval castle on the rock overhanging the town is the most known Slovenian icon. The lake can also be experienced by taking a ride on a ‘pletna’ boat, swimming across it or going for a pleasant walk around it. This tourist pearl on the border of the Triglav National Park was also one of the nominees for the New Seven Wonders of the Word. Only half an hour away from the cosmopolitan town of Bled, is the peaceful town of Bohinj. It lies on the way towards the centre of Triglav National Park. The largest Slovenian lake and mystical mountains offer an ideal place for those in search for peace and relaxation in nature. In the summer, the place is full of swimmers and water sports amateurs.

Thermal water well-being

A special feature of Slovenia are its thermal springs, around which 15 nature spas have developed, including a rich offer of thermal bathing areas and wellness centres. The popularity of spa, thermal and wellness centres is increased by the comprehensive and diverse offer where everyone can find something for him/herself. Pool areas, some more than 10 thousand km2, enthral with their slides, islands, slow rivers, timber slides, waves, underwater massages and theme water parks, etc.

You can choose among spas with thermal water pools and water parks that offer real adrenaline water adventures (such as Terme Čatež, Terme 3000, Terme Ptuj, Aqualuna Term Olimia and Wellness Park Laško Thermana Laško) and more relaxed but also attractive and refreshing spas (such as Terme Dobrna, Terme Topolšica, Dolenjske and Šmarješke Toplice, Terme Zreče, Terme Rogaška, Terme, Terme Lendava, Talaso Strunjan and Terme & Wellness LifeClass). Visit the Slovenian nature spas website and select your own thermal water experience.
