Culinary senses in Ljubljana and the region are awakening

Culinary development is on its way. This can be seen and felt everywhere regarding numerous projects that are currently in the running in Ljubljana and throughout the entire Central Slovenia Region. In line with the national culinary strategy that has been implemented by the Slovenian tourist organisation for many years under the slogan "Taste Slovenia", Ljubljana has set up a regional culinary strategy and issued a culinary guide entitled The Taste of Central Slovenia, which features the best suppliers of culinary offers from the region.

Let us first give you some culinary news. Following the model of many European capitals, Ljubljana recently got its own cake called the Ljubljana and macaroons called "A Kiss from Ljubljana". Before the summer, the Strelec restaurant, a new and the best known restaurant in Ljubljana, with an elite location in the Ljubljana castle, included a Ljubljana menu in its offer called Viseat Ljubljana - when in Ljubljana you should eat in Ljubljana style. An interesting culinary project started in May called an open market. A culinary market is open on Fridays from May to October in the city centre offering a range of selected food products from all over the country. At the same time the number of restaurants in Ljubljana with Slovenian as well as international cuisine is constantly growing.

Let`s look at the novelties towards the north of Ljubljana. The restaurants Dvor Jezeršek and Krištof in the Gorenjska region have prepared a special culinary experience with a panoramic view of Kranj and the Ljubljana basin embraced by the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The Krvavec cable cars are turned into small private restaurants and offer a special culinary environment. A maximum of four persons can enjoy a three course dinner in their private cable car. Dinner is served between the two rides up and down the hill. After the third ride a cable car stops at the panoramic terrace on the upper station of the cable car and the guests receive a sweet surprise. The first "Dinner on the wire rope" was served at the beginning of July and they are planning to continue with this offer.

And what can be found in the culinary guide entitled "The Taste of Central Slovenia - in the centre of the table"? The guide includes the most typical dishes of individual municipalities and contains more than 80 dishes of geographic origin. It is especially valuable since it mentions dishes that can be tasted in restaurants in the towns from which they originate. The guide presents the most typical dishes and their stories from each of the 26 municipalities in the region. There is also a list of suppliers of culinary services, from restaurants to traditional inns and tourist farms.

The publication was published in the Slovenian, English, Italian and German language and you can find it by clicking this link.
