Comfort with a feeling for nature and in natures embrace

The colour green is in the heart of Slovenia and its "I feel Slovenia" brand. In Slovenia, this is more than just a colour; namely, Slovenia has a special shade of green. "The Slovenian green" speaks of unspoiled nature and our focus on being sustainable. There are increasingly more such tourism products in Slovenia – an important part includes accommodation facilities that are different and offer accommodation in touch with nature. We have gathered some ideas.

Among the first was the Forest Fairies eco-village at Camping Bled, which is close to Lake Bled, and provides the concept of "glamorous camping" or "glamping". The villas are small wooden camp houses that are located in a remote part of the camp, in the middle of the forest. The villas are made from organic untreated larch wood and covered with larch shingles, and developed by Sava Hotels & Resorts, which manages the camp in cooperation with the Slovenian company Jelovica. The villas are heated and insulated so travellers may visit all year round - even in the middle of winter - a wooden outdoor bath with wood heating contributes to furthering the comfort and pleasure of living in the midst of nature.

Sava Hotels & Resorts is one of five spa destinations that offer the glamping concept, one of which is in Ptuj and takes the form of a camping adventure in wine barrels. The Terme Ptuj Wine Barrel Village offers the unique experience of staying in large wine barrels, which offer virtually all the comforts of a hotel room out in the open. In keeping with Ptuj`s rich wine-making tradition of wine-making, 9 barrels were transformed into accommodation facilities for the purpose of creating an original tourist experience. Eight of the barrels have beds and the ninth will soon be converted into a sauna. Events connected to local wine-making and Roman tradition are held under the indigenous Wine Village vine. The barrels are also suitable for team-building exercises.

Again, it is a different experience when sleeping in a barn or in the treetops. Raduha House offers both, in the middle of the famous Logarska Valley. The house first opened in 1875 and the fourth and current generation is renowned for its excellent cuisine, which added the new concept of "living" two years ago. The barn, which had previously languished for decades, has had new content and new life breathed into it - and that is its main allure: its contact with tradition, nature, architectural innovation and sophistication. A glass shell gives direct views of the Savinja River and wild rocky Breznica ridge. Here, man meets with the past, present and future, and becomes spiritually recharged.

Last year`s bid complemented the lodge on the tree, which is set among the indigenous trees (ash, larch and lime), and pampers the senses with its interesting architecture and comfort. One is only few metres off the ground and feels completely different, closer to heaven, and the nature is so free!

The new five-story green eco-chalets are made at Hočko Pohorje in the east of Slovenia, in the Natura 2000 protected area. As of this October, the Green Village Ruševec offers you the opportunity to stay in touch with nature. It includes a natural organic swimming pond, herb garden, beehive, and some other items related to permaculture around Ruševec, with 10 stations set up to acquaint visitors with the laws of nature. They also present the importance of maintaining the latter and making them aware of the impact of nature and its beauty in themselves.
