Select your favourite Slovenian dish:
Slovenian cuisine has developed 170 recognised and typical dishes. These are a great basis for countless new explorations and for creating a rich range of flavours. From original soups and buckwheat porridge to meat dishes and delightful desserts. The main ingredients, such as cabbage, beans and potatoes, are of course produced in a natural environment. Without them, there would be no typical jota or bograč, Idrija žlikrofi dumplings and sautéed potatoes. A tasty meal is often concluded with a rich potica or prekmurska gibanica cake.

Taste the magnificent Slovenian wines: Conditions for growth and development of the vine are more than excellent in several parts of Slovenia. With regard to the climate, soil structure and relief, wine experts rank some wine-growing regions in Slovenia among the best in the world. Namely, 70% of Slovenian wines fulfil the criteria for quality and high-quality wines.

Travelling the Slovenian wine roads: Learn about Slovenian wine making traditions and knowledge on the picturesque wine roads in 14 wine-growing regions. Here you can stop in the numerous wine cellars and wine shops and become familiar with the stories written by wine and people.
Cross-border culinary experience: In cooperation with Austrian Carinthia, Slovenia has developed cross-border culinary experiences, collected in the `Let`s enjoy without borders` guide, divided into 11 regions, which includes more than 1100 recommendations and suggestions on both sides of the border.

Slovenian inns (Gostilna Slovenija): In the diverse possibilities of excellent Slovenian inns, you will surely be greeted in the kindest possible way and served with freshly prepared Slovenian dishes, regional features and treats, prepared in a unique way by Slovenian chefs. Besides good food, you will be able to enjoy high-quality Slovenian wines as well. You can expect all this when visiting the inns with the trademark Gostilna Slovenija – holders of the title Gostilna Slovenija form a group of Slovenian inns with the most quality culinary offer; in this way, they communicate with the Slovenian culinary cultural heritage and various modern approaches for the preparation of tasty dishes.
