In November, 4% more arrivals by foreign tourists

The data for November 2013 indicates that the number of foreign tourists increased by 4% and the number of overnight stays by 2%. In comparison with November 2012, despite the higher numbers, a 3% decrease of the number of overnight stays was recorded, except in Ljubljana, which increased its numbers in comparison with last year. The majority of tourists stayed in hotels, while more overnight stays were generated in private rooms, apartments and houses. The most overnight stays were generated by Italian, Austrian, Russian, German and Croatian tourists.

In November, 4% more arrivals by foreign tourists

The data for November 2013 indicates that the number of foreign tourists increased by 4% and the number of overnight stays by 2%. In comparison with November 2012, despite the higher numbers, a 3% decrease of the number of overnight stays was recorded, except in Ljubljana, which increased its numbers in comparison with last year. The majority of tourists stayed in hotels, while more overnight stays were generated in private rooms, apartments and houses. The most overnight stays were generated by Italian, Austrian, Russian, German and Croatian tourists.

In November 2013, tourist accommodation facilities recorded 2% more arrivals by tourists and 3% fewer overnight stays in comparison with November 2012. For domestic tourists, 2% fewer arrivals and overnight stays were recorded in comparison with November 2012. There were 4% more arrivals by foreign tourists and 4% fewer overnight stays by foreign tourists in comparison with the same month in 2012.

The majority of tourists stayed in hotels

In November 2013, the majority of tourists stayed in hotels (76%), 5% in camps, 5% in apartments and holiday estates, while 2% of overnight stays of tourists were generated in private rooms, apartments and houses.

More overnight stays in private rooms, apartments and houses

In November 2013, 19% more overnight stays by tourists were recorded in private rooms, apartments and houses, 2% more in camps and 3% more in youth hostels in comparison with November 2012. It is interesting that hotels recorded 1% fewer overnight stays.

Among foreign tourists, the most overnight stays were generated by Italian, Austrian, Russian, German and Croatian tourists

In November 2013, foreign tourists in Slovenia generated 56% tourist overnight stays. These tourists come from Italy (24%), Austria (23%), Russian Federation (9%), Germany (6%), Croatia (6%) and Serbia (5%).

The growth of the number of overnight stays in November most prominent for Austrian tourists

In November 2013, Austrian tourists who come from one of the most important markets for Slovenian tourism generated 16% more overnight stays, Serbian tourists 8% more and Croatian tourists 5% more overnight stays in comparison with November 2012. Italian tourists generated approximately the same number of overnight stays as in November 2012, while Russian and German tourists generated fewer than in November 2012 (Russian 6% and German 15% fewer).

The most overnight stays by tourists in spa municipalities

The most overnight stays by tourists in November 2013 (46%) were generated in spa municipalities, which is 1% more than in November 2012. Coastal municipalities follow with 17% (which is by 2% fewer in comparison with November 2012). Mountain municipalities recorded 12% of overnight stays in the indicated period (6% fewer than the previous year). The increase of the number of overnight stays with regard to the municipality type was mostly visible in the municipality of Ljubljana, where 3% more overnight stays were recorded in comparison with November 2012.

More arrivals by tourists from January to November 2013

From January to November 2013, 2% more arrivals by foreign and domestic tourists were recorded in comparison with the same period last year, while the number of overnight stays remained approximately the same. From January to November 2013, domestic tourists generated 2% fewer arrivals and 4% fewer overnight stays, while foreign tourists generated 4% more arrivals and 3% more overnight stays in comparison with the same period last year.
