October shows increase of both foreign and domestic visitors

In October 2013, 8% more tourist arrivals and 4% more tourist overnight stays were recorded than in October 2012. In the same comparison arrivals of domestic and foreign tourists increased by 7% and 8%, respectively. The number of domestic and foreign overnight stays also increased, each by 4%.

In October 2013, 8% more tourist arrivals and 4% more tourist overnight stays were recorded than in October 2012. In the same comparison arrivals of domestic and foreign tourists increased by 7% and 8%, respectively. The number of domestic and foreign overnight stays also increased, each by 4%.

Hotels registered three quarters of all tourist overnight stays
In October 2013 most of the tourist overnight stays were recorded in hotels (74% of all overnight stays), followed by camping sites, apartment settlements (6% each) and private accommodations – rented rooms and dwellings (2%).

More tourist overnight stays in hotels, in apartment settlements and in camping sites
Compared to October 2012, in October 2013 the number of tourist overnight stays increased in hotels and apartment settlements (in each by 4%), in camping sites and private accommodations – rented rooms and dwellings (in each by 6%) and in youth hostels (by 14%). In the same comparison tourist farms with accommodation recorded 4% fewer overnight stays.

Among foreign tourists, most overnight stays were generated by Austrian, Italian, German, Russian and Croatian tourists
In October 2013 in Slovenia foreign tourists generated 61% of tourist overnight stays. Key markets, from which the most overnight stays of foreign tourists in Slovenia were recorded, were Austria (17% of all foreign overnight stays), Italy (14%), Germany (13%), the Russian Federation (7%), Croatia (5%), the United States (4%) and Serbia (3%).

As regards the important tourism markets, in October 2013 tourists from Germany generated 8% more overnight stays than in October 2012, tourists from Croatia 11% more and tourists from the United States 35% more. In the same comparison tourists from Italy generated 6% fewer overnight stays, tourists from Austria 9% fewer and tourists from the Russian Federation 18% fewer.

The highest number of overnight stays in health (spa) resorts
In October 2013, the number of tourist overnight stays was the highest in health (spa) resorts (39% or 2% more than in October 2012), followed by seaside resorts with a 19% share of overnight stays (about the same number as in the previous year). Mountain resorts generated 15% of all overnight stays in the reference period or 4% more than in October 2012. The highest increase in the number of overnight stays regarding the type of municipalities was recorded in the municipality of Ljubljana (a 25% increase over October 2012).

From January to October 2013 more tourist arrivals and overnight stays
From January to October 2013, 2% more tourist arrivals were registered in tourist accommodations than in the same period of the previous year. In the same comparison the number of tourist overnight stays increased by 1%. From January to October 2013 domestic tourists generated 2% fewer tourist arrivals and 4% fewer overnight stays than in the same period of the previous year. The number of foreign tourist arrivals increased by 4% and the number of their overnight stays by 3%.
