Holiday on a Slovenian organic farm

It is possible to experience a unique holiday on more than 10 Slovenian organic farms. In exchange for a place to stay and food the tourists help with everyday tasks on the farm. In the westernmost Slovenian village of Robidišče, an organic farm gives a positive experience with wwoofers from all around the world, from Europe to Australia and New Zealand. The global network of WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) exchange includes more and more Slovenian farms. The currency for payment for a stay at the farm is a priceless experience in authentic contact with locals, nature and animals. In addition to free accommodation and food the farms also allow you the possibility of education about the organic way of life. "Wwoofing" in Slovenia started in 2002 and provides the peculiar green promotion of the country.

The WWOOF movement began in 1971 in the United Kingdom. Today it has grown to international dimensions, which allow learning about the way of life in contact with nature and animals. Farms that host volunteers also bridge the lack of seasonal workforce with wwoofing. Besides, it means a great deal to them that they can spread the idea of organic farming, promote a healthy way of life and genuine socialising of different cultures. Volunteers live and work on the farm as a part of the family.

The diversity of hosts offers a wide variety of experience. The website of the international organisation WWOOF publishes a list of organic farms that accept volunteers. Around 12,000 farms in more than 50 countries around the world are active. Wwoofing is carried out by volunteers or "wwoofers", who choose the host which they find the most interesting according to the activities on the farm, contact the host and reach an agreement about their special holiday.

Slovenian tourist accommodation providers are becoming more and more aware of the necessity of coexisting with unspoiled nature. The countryside stands out especially, since with the rise of organic farms it is directed towards green and sustainable tourism.

In addition to charity and a sustainable note, Wwoofing has the power to promote, since Slovenia is visited by a number of volunteers from all over the world.
