Kobarid receives the Alan Rogers Campsite Award in the category of active holidays

Camp Koren in Kobarid on the left bank of the emerald Soča River is the winner of this year`s British Alan Rogers award in the category of active holidays. One of the biggest European camping guides, with a more than forty-year-long tradition, gives awards to the best European camps every year at the tourism fair in Utrecht. Camp Koren from Kobarid has won second place in its category, together with the Italian camp Seiser Alm.

The Soča Valley is considered to be the cradle of sports experiences in Slovenia, which have raised it to positon of the central tourist destination for spending a holiday outdoors. Camp Koren is not far from the centre of Kobarid, where the emerald river disentangles from the narrow canyon, slows down beside the white gravels and turns through the Soča Valley. 90 ordered camping lots and six eco log cabins brought the title European accommodation capacities winner, by choice of Alan Rogers, to the campsite in 2010. Due to its orientation towards sustainable tourism Camp Koren, in 2011, was the first Slovenian camp to receive the European certificate Eco Daisy.

A Camp, which is not short of exuberance and active programs, is like a second home to seekers of genuine adventures in nature. The Soča Valley, one of the most beautiful and most emerald blue Alpine rivers, does not wear its slogan “The Valley of action, energy, discoveries and festivals” in vain. This is a valley with a number of pleasant camps and is well-known all across Europe and the world, as a great tourist destination for active travellers, who want to take advantage of rafting, canyoning, hiking, cycling, paragliding, climbing, fishing and other sports. Additional clues to experience endless weekends in the Soča Valley can be found in the booklet "Soča, do tell".

Several camps in Slovenia have already received the Alan Rogers Active Holiday Award: Camping Šobec (2008), Camping Bled (2009) and Camp Čatež (2010). Camping Bled, in 2011, received the award for the second time, this time in the category of innovation, for its wooden camping houses. In Slovenia camping is a very popular way of spending holidays, because it combines adventure, nature, comfort and peace. Among more than 60 Slovenian camps there are quite a few with five stars and good infrastructure, which cannot be obtained for a comparable price in tourist accommodation with solid roofs. Feel Slovenia while you are closer to the sky and the stars!
