The jubilee edition of the Isola Cinema film festival

The 10th international Isola Cinema film festival will take place between 4 and 8 June in Izola. The Venetian city on the Slovenian coast will be transformed into a true film island with screenings under the stars as top-notch films with a rich side programme conquer the picturesque old city centre. Join numerous other film lovers and greet the summer!

Slightly more than 100 kilometres west of Ljubljana, Slovenia enters into a pleasant seaside world. Did you know that Izola, a peninsular coastal town, used to be a real island? The streets of Izola will be animated in the island spirit also in June when the 10th Isola Cinema film festival is held. This popular festival is a unique film experience for the locals and as well for film fans from all over the world. Be a part of one of the best smaller film festivals in Europe!

The biggest attraction of the festival is the evening screenings on the Manzioli square where the open-air cinema takes place. Screenings under the stars will feature films from the "Trgatev" (Harvest) competition section and numerous other hit films. "Mojstri" (Masters) features recent work from selected continents (Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe). "Prijatelji" (Friends) include a selection of films chosen by the international programme committee. The "Posebna priložnost" (Special occasion) programme features films that accompany and complement the main programme. In the end, there will be a presentation of the "Nove obale" (New coasts) programme with films from a specific state or continent cinema.

The festival represents a great opportunity to enrich one’s holidays on the Slovenian coast. Apart from the accommodation capacities of our partners, there is a camping site next to the Izola lighthouse where you can camp in a romantic atmosphere with a view of the Gulf of Trieste. Night screenings as well as numerous other events and a musical programme will be held every evening. You will be pampered by the culinary offer at the market and in various restaurants in Izola.

The youngest visitors can attend "Podmornica" (Submarine) – the film festival programme for children. The programme will also include "Kinobalon", which is a programme for children prepared by Kinodvor from Ljubljana. The Isola Cinema is basically a true micro-destination for families. The town of Izola will charm you with its narrow streets, pleasant beaches, its romantic marina or the so-called "mandrač" in the heart of the city, that being the musical pavilion in the middle of the park where numerous concerts take place and its pleasant restaurants, hotels and apartments.
