Slovenian wines are true ambassadors of Slovenia and its cuisine abroad! The wine produced in Slovenia became world-renowned. American chef Peter X. Kelly, the best chef in NW America in 2010 according to the James Bird Foundation, is so inspired by Slovenian wine that he wanted to learn more about Slovenian cuisine and its ingredients. He says it is a mix, which takes you on a whirlwind of new experiences.

Kelly runs 4 excellent restaurants which are equipped with chairs made by a Slovenian designer and which employ 160 people who all work together in order to create a special experience for their guests. However, no challenge stops chef Peter from brandishing his wooden spoon himself, and he is constantly on the lookout for better and better ingredients. American cuisine has a large potential for development and is literally a melting pot of ingredients and cuisines from all over the world. Slovenian delicacies fit nicely into his pot.

Surely, you know Piran salt and salt flower. Many of the world’s best chefs believe that it is the best salt in the world. What about the excellent Slovenian pumpkin seed oil? Both products are also added to Slovenian chocolates. Excellent olive oil is also produced in Slovenia. Did you know that the best olive oil is produced from olives grown on northern slopes? Slovenian groves are among the northernmost, and their location is perhaps the best in the Mediterranean. According to Kelly, the Slovenian cream cake is one of the best desserts in the world. Have you tried Slovenia Vodka, innovative buckwheat vodka, whose main ambassadors are ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov and actor Bill Murray? All of these products come from Slovenia, so visit Slovenia as soon as possible to feel and taste all that!

The American chef describes the region between the Alps and the Adriatic as a friend you get attached to, and then want to spend as much time as possible with him. He visited the region twice, toasting Batič rose wine, in his opinion the best rose wine in the world. When he tasted the cream cake at Bled, the dessert`s home, he discovered that it is not just about taste, but much more: a unique ambience, as well as the time you take for enjoying in it; the excitement that embraces you when you look at the island surrounded by the turquoise Alpine lake; and the passion. Slovenian cuisine is not just about good food and drinks but much more.

You surely agree that almost all countries have their own traditional cuisines, and ingredients that they are very proud of. They differ only in that some countries` cuisines are economically and culturally more in the spotlight than others. Slovenia has a lot to show to everyone who has a bit of a curious spirit, who is hungry for surprises and new experiences. Slovenian cuisine is experiencing a renaissance and Slovenia is becoming the culinary capital of Europe. Be among the first to be a part of this local and exciting global experience!
