9% more arrivals and 8% more overnight stays in April
9% more arrivals and 8% more overnight stays in April
Data for April 2014 show that the number of all tourist arrivals has increased by 9% since April 2013, and overnight stays are up by 8% in comparison to last year. The number of foreign tourist arrivals and overnight stays has also shown a sharp rise, making up 64% of overnight stays in April 2013. Most overnight stays were registered in municipalities with spa tourism and in mountainous areas, with Italians, Austrians, Germans, Russians, Serbians, and Croatians representing the biggest share of foreign tourists.

Data for April 2014 show that the number of all tourist arrivals has increased by 9% since April 2013, and overnight stays are up by 8% in comparison to last year. In April 2014 a high increase in foreign tourist arrivals and overnight stays
In April 2014 there were 9% more tourist arrivals and 8% more overnight stays than in April 2013. The number of foreign tourist arrivals and overnight stays increased by 17%. One of the factors contributing to the large growth was likely the fact that this year Easter holidays were in April, while last year they were in March. The number of domestic tourist arrivals decreased by 5% and overnight stays by 4%.
Most overnight stays in hotels
In comparison to April 2013, in April 2014 most overnight stays were recorded in hotels (71%), which is 8% more than last year. Camps follow (8%), then apartments and resorts (5%), with private rooms, apartments and houses coming in last (3%).
Among foreign tourists, most overnight stays were generated by Italians, Austrians, Germans, Russians, Serbians, and Croatians
In April 2014, foreign tourists in Slovenia generated 64% of tourist overnight stays, with tourists coming from Italy (23%), Austria (17%), Germany (12%), the Russian Federation (6%), Serbia, and Croatia (both 4%).
More overnight stays from important tourist markets
Regarding the tourists from important tourist markets, in April 2014 more overnight stays were generated by guests from Germany (by 47%), Italy (by 24%), Austria (23%), Croatia (by 11%), the Russian Federation (by 7%), and Serbia (by 4%) in comparison to last year.
The highest number of overnight stays in health and seaside resorts
The highest number of overnight stays in April 2014 was recorded in municipalities with health resorts (37%). Coastal areas come in second (23%), followed by mountainous areas (14%). Ljubljana recorded 12% of all tourist overnight stays. In April 2014, the Municipality of Ljubljana together with municipalities with health and seaside resorts recorded 11% more tourist overnight stays than in April 2013, while mountainous areas registered 5% more than last year.
More tourist arrivals and overnight stays in the first four months of 2014
In the first four months of 2014, 3% more tourist arrivals were registered in tourist accommodation than in the same period last year. The number of overnight stays rose by 1%. There were 2% fewer domestic tourist arrivals in the first four months of this year and 3% fewer overnight stays of domestic tourists, while there were 7% more foreign tourist arrivals and 4% more overnight stays of foreign tourists than last year.
