The American New York Times is just one of many foreign media that have discovered and praised the beauties of Slovenia in recent years. In its June issue, it published an extensive article on the serene Vipava valley which, with its drowsy, dream-stricken character and a contended smallness, represents a paradise for calm experience. Have you visited it yet?

New York Times journalist Robert Draper was fascinated by the Vipava valley which he thinks to be a hidden paradise, mainly due to its serenity, excellent cuisine and fine wine. For years, Vipava valley has been renowned for its aromatic and rich prosciutto which, according to the journalist`s opinion, can easily compete with the highest quality Italian prosciutto and for Slovenian autochthonous grape variety zelen which means green in Slovenian. There`s More Than Meets the Eye in the Vipava valley, says a local tourism slogan - a rich natural and cultural heritage, mild climate and authentic local pubs.

Vipava valley, located in the eastern part of Slovenia, just an hour`s drive from the capital Ljubljana is described by the journalist as a "slender and sunny 30-mile-long rift wedged between three plateaus". He was especially fascinated by the numerous rivers and springs, stone villages which are gleaming testaments to toughness and resiliency of the region when it comes to the famous wind called Burja which can reach speeds of up to 200 kilometres per hour.

Earth Travelling praising the beauties of Bled

International tourism media was once again impressed by Bled and its emerald lake, fairy tale island with a baroque church and the famous local dessert called cream slice. Bled, a Slovenian tourist icon just off of Ljubljana, was named one of the ten most beautiful places to visit on Balkan Peninsula by the Earth Travelling web portal. Besides this Slovenian Alpine pearl, the other recommended destinations are Plitvice Lakes in Croatia, Niš in Serbia, Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sveti Stefan in Montenegro, Ohrid Lake in Macedonia, Meteora in Greece, Dracula`s castle in Romania and Nesebar in Bulgaria.
