May marks a 3 % increase in tourist arrivals

The data for May 2014 show that the number of tourist arrivals increased by 3 % compared to May 2013. Most overnight stays were recorded in municipalities with spa tourism, and the majority of guests stayed in hotels. Among foreign tourists, most overnight stays in May 2014 were generated by Austrian, Italian, German, Russian tourists and tourists from the United Kingdom. In the first five months of the year, there was a 6 % increase in foreign tourist arrivals and a 1 % increase of overnight stays compared to the previous year.

The data for May 2014 show that the number of tourist arrivals increased by 3 % compared to May 2013. Most overnight stays were recorded in municipalities with spa tourism, and the majority of guests stayed in hotels. Among foreign tourists, most overnight stays in May 2014 were generated by Austrian, Italian, German, Russian tourists and tourists from the United Kingdom. In the first five months of the year, there was a 6 % increase in foreign tourist arrivals and a 1 % increase of overnight stays compared to the previous year.

Increase of the overnight stays by Italian tourists

The highest number of overnight stays in May 2014 was recorded in municipalities with spa tourism; Ljubljana recorded a 2 % increase of tourist overnight stays compared to May 2013. Among the tourists from major tourist markets, Italian tourists created 29 % more overnight stays in May 2014 compared to May 2013.

More arrivals of tourists from all markets

May 2014 marked a 3 % increase of all tourist arrivals compared to May 2013. The number of domestic tourist arrivals grew by 4 % and the number of overnight stays increased by 1 %. The number of foreign tourist arrivals grew by 3 %.

Most overnight stays in hotels

Compared to May 2013, in May 2014 most tourist overnight stays were recorded in hotels (67 %), followed by camping sites (11 %), apartment settlements and holiday resorts (5 %). 5 % of overnight stays are recorded in private accommodations, apartments and houses, which is a 3 % increase compared to May 2013.

Most overnight stays in health resorts, and an increase in Municipality Ljubljana

The highest number of overnight stays in May 2014 was recorded in municipalities with spa tourism (31 % of all tourist overnight stays). These are followed by seaside resorts (22 %), mountain resorts (19 %) and Municipality of Ljubljana (13 %). In the mountain, seaside and health resorts, the number of overnight stays in May 2014 decreased (by 11 %, 5 % and 4 %, respectively), while the Municipality of Ljubljana recorded a 2 % increase of overnight stays compared to May 2013.

Increase in the arrivals of all tourists in the first four months of 2014

In the first five months of 2014, there were 3 % more tourist arrivals than in the same period last year. In the first five months of the year, there was a 6 % increase in foreign tourist arrivals and a 1 % increase of overnight stays compared to the previous year.
