Slovenian Summer, One Big Music Festival

During the summer, Slovenia becomes a big and colourful festival! Every July and August are traditionally enriched by musical delights in the romantic atmosphere of the most beautiful castles, palaces and churches of south-eastern Slovenia, as well as with the ethno festival in Bled with guests from all over the world.

During the summer, Slovenia becomes a big and colourful festival! Every July and August are traditionally enriched by musical delights in the romantic atmosphere of the most beautiful castles, palaces and churches of south-eastern Slovenia, as well as with the ethno festival in Bled with guests from all over the world.

“Semper Viva Quam Creata” or “always alive as created”! This slogan of the music festival Seviqc Brežice invites you to enjoy in music events that take place from 22 June to 7 September. This festival with more than thirty years of tradition represents European and world musical heritage from the Middle Ages until the early 20th century. In addition to the authentic performance of works, the festival is known for captivating music lovers in magnificent castles, churches, and other important sites of Slovenian cultural heritage. The festival`s events take place at Brežice Castle, Slovenska Bistrica Castle, Turjak Castle, Novo Celje Manor, Studenice Monastery, Mokrice Castle, and elsewhere in eastern Slovenia. Nobody will get lost on the way, bus transport from Ljubljana to all sites will be organized. Experience one of the most important summer cultural events with an excellent reputation among music connoisseurs from all over the world.

Various parts of programme, which include the European and world musical legacy, focus primarily on concert music, which is all the more alive as it is performed with original, authentic instruments. United musicians from around the world connect the audience and raise awareness of the diverse, yet common heritage. And since great music goes hand in hand with excellent wine, the organizers have another treat for visitors. At each concert, the audience is served with the finest local wines. Bus transport is also organized to take you to all the hidden corners of Slovenia, where Seviqc Brežice opens the door to mansions, towers, castles, churches, and concert halls.

We could say that the Seviqc Brežice Festival has become synonymous with early music. The festival organizers strive to promote both innovation and the preservation of tradition. The program represents the Slovenian cultural heritage and successfully promotes its identity to tourists from all over the world. At the same time the Seviqc Brežice supports the exchange of cultural knowledge of European and non-European countries, as well as inter-cultural diversity. Each year, numerous top artists in the field of early music from around the world are invited to participate. The festival also has an important local aspect. The variety of musical styles that have woven together over the centuries in Europe and the beauty of the Slovenian landscape attract people of all ages and views, who want to enjoy their early summer evenings at the festival.

In the other part of Slovenia ethnic music lovers will be able to enjoy their kind of music. Bled, whose famous island in the middle of the lake is a true Slovenian tourist icon and a world-renowned alpine pearl, will this year host the 24th Okarina etno festival. The event, which will bring musicians from France, Azerbaijan, Senegal, Spain, Macedonia, Venezuela, and elsewhere to the Gorenjska region, will take place from 19 July and 9 August. The festival is organized by the Bled Culture Institute and its programme leader, Leo Ličof. The great fan and connoisseur of folk music promises that this year as well unique music events will take place at Bled Castle and the magical Bled Spa Park, and explains that this festival is among the most famous parts of Bled culture.
