July recorded an increasing number of foreign tourists

The data for July 2014 show that compared to July 2013, the number of arrivals of foreign tourists increased by 1%. An increase in the number of overnight stays in the alpine and littoral municipalities was also recorded. Among foreign tourists, most overnight stays were generated by Dutch, German, Italian, Austrian and Belgian tourists. Over the first seven months of this year, foreign tourists have made 6% more arrivals and 1% more overnight stays than in the same period of last year.

The data for July show that compared to July 2013, the number of arrivals of foreign tourists increased by 1%. An increase in the number of overnight stays in the alpine and littoral municipalities was also recorded. Among foreign tourists, most overnight stays were generated by Dutch, German, Italian, Austrian and Belgian tourists. Over the first seven months of this year, foreign tourists have made 6% more arrivals and 1% more overnight stays than in the same period of last year.

Most overnight stays in the mountain and seaside resorts

In July 2014, most of the tourists spent the night in mountain and seaside resorts (24% of all overnight stays in every resort). Health resorts generated 25% of all overnight stays, and the municipality of Ljubljana recorded 10% of overnight stays, which is a 6% increase in comparison to July 2013.

Most of the foreign overnight stays generated by Dutch, German, Italian, Austrian and Belgian tourists

Foreign guests accounted for 68% of all overnight stays in July 2014, coming from the Netherlands (12%), Germany (9%), Italy (8%), Austria (8%), and Belgium (8%).

An increase in the number of Austrian tourists

Among the tourists from more important tourists markets, the Austrian tourists accounted for 1% more overnight stays in July 2014 than in July 2013.

Hotels are the top choice for overnight stays

In July 2014, the most overnight stays were recorded in hotels (49%), camping sites (23%), or apartment and holiday resorts, private rooms, apartments, and houses (6% for each type of accommodation).

More tourist arrivals and overnight stays in the first seven months of 2014

From January to July 2014, there was a 3% increase in the number of tourists in comparison with the same period of last year. Foreign tourists generated 6% more arrivals and 1% more overnight stays during the first seven months of 2014 in comparison with the same period in 2013.
