Open Kitchen receives a tourism award for innovativeness

Open kitchen, the innovative culinary market of freshly prepared specialties in Ljubljana, received an honorary Slovenian tourism award for creative and innovative achievements in tourism. It transformed Pogačar Square in the centre of Ljubljana into a popular and "must-experience" for Friday socialising among the locals as well as visitors. It also put Ljubljana and Slovenia on the world tourist map.

This Autumn, the unique open food market received the Slovenian Tourist Board`s honorary Sejalec award for innovation in tourism. The award has been bestowed for the past eleven years. Open kitchen hosts many Slovenian and foreign chefs, who cook right in front of you and sell their tastiest dishes on well patronised stalls. The culinary market, which attracts many lovers of culinary delicacies, is open every Friday from March to October.

The event is a great opportunity to meet the chefs and taste Slovenian and international dishes. There are approximately thirty food providers present at Open kitchen each Friday, which makes the culinary offer truly diverse. Here we can find food from Slovenian inns, restaurants, tourist farms and individual chefs. The culinary event is accompanied by an entertaining programme with musical performances. With Open kitchen Ljubljana legitimately sparkles as an important European capital where the fun never ends.
