Animateka, the International Animated Film Festival

Animateka, which celebrated ten years last year, is the biggest celebration of Slovenian animated film. And it will be the same this year. In chilly December, the heart of Ljubljana will be warmed once again by the imaginary worlds of international animation masters, screened in the cult boutique cinema Kinodvor and the museum Kinoteka.

The Festival`s main Competition Programme will see presentations in four sections with short animated films from Eastern and Central Europe. All 37 films, which succeeded in being included in the Competition Programme this year, contend for the two main prizes - the international jury award (the Animateka Grand Prix) and the audience award (the Maestro Audience Award). The students this year were very inspired, with 50 animated films being included in the European Student Panorama (the competition for students), which is the highest number in the festival`s history.

The rich accompanying programme will again this year include Panorama – the Eastern and Central European animation retrospective, Best of the world, which presents excellence in animated film from all around the world, and Focus, which scrutinizes the work of particular artists or schools with various social events and round tables.

Film projectors will be operating constantly, with more than 100 films from approximately 30 countries being screened in seven days. Films that were carefully chosen by the programme section for sophisticated film tastes.
