Kranjska Gora is an attractive village set at the heart of the Zgornjesavska Valley in the Gorenjska region. Once a shepherd settlement, Kranjska Gora can today pride itself on ranking among the top 50 world skiing destinations in 2015, as ranked by Trivago, the world`s top hotel price comparison site. The winter season is not over yet! Visit one of the world`s best ski resorts and enjoy the convenience of skiing almost directly from the doorstep of your hotel.

Trivago, the world`s top hotel price comparison site, released a list of the top 50 skiing destinations. The ranking took into account the world ski resorts with at least 40 hotels and for each hotel, at least 20 opinions were reviewed. And with its outstanding facilities, Kranjska Gora, an Alpine village situated at the heart of the Zgornjesavska Valley, earned a place among the top 50. The village hosts the Vitranc Cup, an annual international ski competition event for male skiers, which has been held on the steep ski slopes of Podkoren near Kranjska Gora since 1961. It all started when the first ski lifts were opened on Vitranc, while the men`s giant slalom run on the slopes of Vitranc is considered one of the most challenging on the World Cup circuit. Kranjska Gora has gained a reputation as an excellent host in terms of organising and hosting the World Cup Ski Jumping Finals in Planica, where ski jumpers break new records for the longest jumps nearly every year.

Pay a visit to Kranjska Gora, where only a snow-covered beach lies between your hotel and the ski slopes. The place is an ideal starting base for winter explorations of the Julian Alps, by either snowshoe, ski touring, ice climbing on frozen waterfalls, or sledging across well prepared sledge runs day or night. Rather than staying in a standard hotel, you may opt to spend a night in the real igloo, which is traditionally created every year in the Eskimo Village. This year, the Eskimo Village has built a global attraction, an Escape Igloo, which launches you on a 70-minute adventure in which you need to find a way out of the igloo by finding clues and solving riddles. Experience this adrenalin rush or pamper yourself in the numerous nearby wellness centres, spas, and saunas.
