According to the January 2015 statistics as compared to January 2014, the tourist accommodation facilities recorded a 9% increase in overall tourist arrivals – with a 6% increase in the number of foreign tourist overnight stays. In this respect, an 8% increase in foreign tourist arrivals and a 4% increase in overnight stays were registered, the majority of stays being generated by Italian and Croatian tourists. Spa municipalities generated most tourist overnight stays.

An increased number of arrivals and overnight stays by domestic and foreign tourists
According to the January 2015 statistics as compared to January 2014, tourist accommodation facilities recorded a 9% increase in overall tourist arrivals – with a 6% increase in the number of tourist overnight stays. The number of domestic tourist arrivals was 9% higher, whereas the number of tourist overnight stays was a good 10% higher than in January 2014. The number of foreign tourist arrivals increased by 8% and the number of tourist overnight stays by 4%.
The highest increase in tourist overnight stays was recorded in the municipality of Ljubljana
In January 2015, spa municipalities generated 40% of all overnight tourist stays. They are followed by alpine municipalities (28%), coastal municipalities (9%), and the municipality of Ljubljana (recording a 16% increase in overnight stays compared to January 2014).
Most tourist overnight stays were generated by tourists from Italy and more than a fifth by Croatian tourists
In January 2015, foreign tourists generated 60% of all tourist overnight stays in Slovenia. The key markets from which most overnight stays of foreign tourists in Slovenia were recorded in January 2015 were the following: Italy (26%), Croatia (21%), Austria and Serbia (9% each), the Russian Federation (6%), Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Germany (3% each). In January 2015 compared to January 2014, more overnight stays were generated by tourists from Italy (by 14%), Austria (by 10%), and Croatia (by 8%), whereas fewer overnight stays were generated by the Russian Federation (by 24%).
