Slovenia is Hosting BalkanSpa Health & Wellness Summit 2015

Slovenia’s fifteen certified natural spas have recorded the highest number of overnight stays, thus representing the largest tourist attraction in Slovenia. In Thermana Laško, the fourth international conference of health and wellness tourism for 2015, the BalkanSpa Health & Wellness Summit 2015, will be held at one of the European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) in Slovenia.

As healthy, active and green, Slovenia can pride itself on having 100 natural thermal springs. Thermal mineral water bubbles in their depths. Slovenia’s fifteen certified natural spas have recorded the highest number of overnight stays, thus representing the largest tourist attraction in Slovenia. In Thermana Laško, at the Confluence of Good, as the Laško tourism slogan states, the fourth international conference of health and wellness tourism for 2015, the BalkanSpa Health & Wellness Summit 2015, will be held at one of the European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) in Slovenia.

The objective of this most important spa tourism event, this year also hosting eminent representatives of health tourism, is to strengthen cooperation and good relations between the countries in the region. This November, the guests will attend open discussions and workshops, providing an opportunity to exchange views and enhance business connections. The main objective of this year’s event is, in particular, to create a sound basis for cooperation and development in spa, wellness and health tourism in the Balkans. Members of the association believe that only through participation and integration can the region be presented on the global market and develop successfully. Participants of this international event will be informed of numerous innovative ideas, trends, guidelines and concepts, especially the trendiest ones in spa, thalasso and wellness tourism.

It is well known that Central Europe and the Balkans have a valuable thermal heritage, in particular Slovenia, situated at the crossroads of north and south, where the ancient Romans and after them, emperors, liked to enjoy the beneficial effects of the thermal and mineral waters. Not only is this area rich in thermal springs, but more importantly it boasts a very strong and unbroken spa tradition of parallel application of water and other natural remedies. Every year a different country from the Balkan region hosts the conference. The first such event was held in 2011 in Bulgaria, a year later in Turkey, in 2013 in Serbia and in 2014 in Croatia. In 2015, Slovenia has a unique opportunity to present to foreign representatives, experts and conference participants why Slovenian Spas are ranked among the top spas in Europe and the world. A synergy of natural resources, a century-long spa tradition, the art of well-being and health treatment programmes offer ideal opportunities for active holidays, which can be much more than this. Through their constantly revitalised and upgraded facilities and offers, spas are increasingly connected with the heartbeat, culture and gastronomy of the local environment.
