Slovenia has been stepping up its preparations for the Expo Milano 2015 Universal Exposition. With its innovative 800 m2 pavilion, the country located between the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea will present itself between 1 May and 31 October with the slogan "I feel sLOVEnia. Green. Active. Healthy." The main theme of this year’s great international event, which is expected to be seen by over 20 million visitors, will be food.

SPIRIT Slovenia, a public agency, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology provides for Slovenia’s presentation at the universal exposition, which takes place every five years. Slovenia’s performance and all current news may be seen at its official website www.exposlovenia.si and social networks www.facebook.com/SloveniaExpoMilano2015, twitter.com/ExpoSlovenia.

The Slovenian pavilion located at an excellent spot will give you the opportunity to get information on interesting themes on bees, thermal and mineral waters, healthy and active lifestyles, and green technologies. The pyramid-shaped innovative pavilion will be placed on a geometrically diverse surface, which will reflect the diversity of the Slovenian territory – the transition from the mountains of the Alps, the Pannonian plains and the Mediterranean hills to arable areas with a rich underground labyrinth of karst caves and stalagmites and stalactites. A more detailed concept of Slovenia’s presentation may be seen here. All countries presenting themselves in Milan will organise a national day in their pavilions during the exposition. The Slovenian national day is scheduled to take place on 19 June 2015. In addition to the opportunity for Slovenia’s highest state official to pay a visit, business delegations will also be organised, and the event will be enriched by a varied cultural and artistic programme. Slovenia is green as it is distinguished by great and diverse natural wealth, and green technologies are the way to preserve the special Slovenian shade of green. Slovenia is active as its green and diverse environment is the starting point for many activities in nature and an inspiration for many professional athletes. Slovenia is healthy, which is especially reflected in healthy food from a green environment and active leisure time which are the conditions for a healthy lifestyle.

EXPO Milano 2015 opens, in addition to issues of food, the subthemes of sustainability, ecology, green innovations and a healthy lifestyle with its slogan ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’. The purpose of the exposition in Milan, which is 495 kilometres away from Ljubljana, will be to educate the public and give some thought on the tackling of the key problems of the modern world. The organisers expect over 20 million visitors, of which 15 million will be Italians. This will be a key economic event for Slovenia since neighbouring Italy is its second most important foreign trading partner. From the aspect of tourism, the Italian market is of crucial importance for Slovenia as Italians generated the most arrivals and overnight stays last year.
