Winter in Slovenia has not finished yet. In February and March, Slovenia will be hosting numerous world competitions. Join the plenitude of fans and cheer our favourites on! Add momentum to ski jumpers and speed to skiers so that they can achieve top results. The Golden Fox (the Maribor Pohorje) is scheduled to take place on 21 and 22 February, while the Vitranc Cup (Kranjska Gora) is scheduled to unfold on 14 and 15 March. The World Cup finals in ski jumping (the Planica Valley) will be held between 19 and 22 March.

Be among the first to take fans’ positions at the Golden Fox that will take place on 21 and 22 February on the Maribor Pohorje. Cheer for the best female slalom skiers and giant slalom skiers in the world. In 51 seasons, Slovenian female skiers have won three medals. Did you know that initially both men and women participated in the competition? The first Golden Fox title was won by a man, a triple Olympic champion named Jean Claude Killy, while the competition was later taken over by female skiers.

The spectacle of female skiers is followed by a challenge for male skiers who will compete at the traditional Vitranc Cup in Kranjska Gora on 14 and 15 March. The Vitranc Cup has been the highlight of Kranjska Gora winters since 1968. One of the best Alpine skiers of all times, Ingemar Stenmark, who competed with Slovenian Elan skis, used to say that the amazing atmosphere on Vitranc made him feel like a Slovenian. He experienced Kranjska Gora when he raced there and the crowd cheered for him, even though he stole many sweet Slovenian victories in the golden 80s.

Kranjska Gora also won the World Ski Award for the best Slovenian ski centre. One of the oldest venues of Alpine Ski World Cup races is loved by beginners and professionals. At the tri-border between Slovenia, Italy and Austria, there are 18 ski runs of various difficulty levels. In Kranjska Gora, you can also enjoy cross-country skiing, off-piste skiing and climbing on frozen waterfalls. A real treat, after the winter challenges, is provided by the numerous wellness centres and restaurants with family tradition.

Complete with a cheering mood, we will proceed to Planica, which will host the best ski jumpers in the world between 19 and 22 February. Watch the longest jumps and be part of the unforgettable sports atmosphere. You may set off to the Planica Valley in an even ‘greener’ way this year. Join a sustainable development project and catch a ride to the ski jumping arena by a special train or carpool.
