A story of love

Feel Slovenia, a country which has love in its very name. According to a folk-tale, it is love which connects the sea with mountains, forests with waters, fields with vineyards and secrets of the underground with the light of the sky. Visit the country in the centre of Europe where everything is within easy reach and where you can hop from town to mountain and from there almost directly into the sea.

High mountain and lowland meadows, fields, nature parks and forests which cover more than one half of the country. All of that is green Slovenia. A home to spacious nature, numerous flora and fauna and also to Slovenian sportspeople who reach for the highest and most prestigious medals, and are an inspiration for many sports enthusiasts. Such motivation and encouragement help and inspire us to overcome those kilometres of cycling and hiking. Recreational activities on Slovenian rivers and lakes are also unique.

The green story of Slovenia and its active heart is complimented by the story of its thermal waters. Some 15 natural health resorts with abundant water sources attend to your well-being. Experience the effects of the best health programmes in Europe. Dive into the sea of flavours of the unique Slovenian cuisine and traditional dishes. Slovenia is divided into 14 wine-producing districts and 24 gastronomic regions.

Love and celebrate love. We share love in Slovenia on 12 March, the Feast of Saint Gregory. According to tradition, birds get married on this day and they announce the arrival of spring. The Island of Love, created by the Mura River, is particularly attractive in the Pomurje region in spring. Life never stops there because within it is embraced the rich cultural heritage of the wider surroundings, that of rafting, millers, weavers and its rich oral tradition. Stop and stay a while in beloved Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital, and the European Green Capital 2016.
