Solčavsko is a land of three valleys situated under the peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and the Karavanke. The Logar Valley is one of the most beautiful glacial valleys in Europe. Large mountain farms can be found in the Robanov Kot Valley, while the Matkov Kot Valley is known as the youngest glacial valley in the headwaters of the Savinja River. Take a trip on the Solčava panoramic road, which leads to Potočka Zijalka under Mt Olševa which is one of the most important Karst caves in Slovenia, where the bones of a cave bear and hunter’s tools from the Ice Age from 30,000 years ago were found.

In summer, the valleys serve as excellent starting points for mountaineering, hiking and cycling. In winter, when covered with snow, they are ideal for skiing, cross-country skiing and sledging. Friendly local people will welcome you and share their stories characterised by farm life, mighty forests, waterfalls and people. Indulge in homemade delicacies. Try Savinjski želodec (a type of salami), a speciality with protected geographical indication, or Solčavsko štruklji and žlikrofi (both are types of dumpling). Quench your thirst with homemade fruit juices and teas and toast with one of the spirits. Breathe in green.
