New exhibition of Postojna Cave

An exhibition on the formation and development of tourism in Postojna Cave, the largest karst phenomena in Slovenia, has been prepared. Find out about the museum cultural heritage of the most frequented tourist attraction in Slovenia. It has hosted over 35 million visitors in the 200 years since it was opened. Venture into the world of underground mysteries!

The largest cave of the Classical Karst is also the most frequently visited tourist cave in Europe. Postojna Cave prides itself on its 200 years of tradition in tourism during which time it has seen more than 35 million visitors. This important anniversary was commemorated with an exhibition on the history of tourism, which reveals mysteries not as yet experienced by visitors to the cave. Learn about themes describing the cave in space and time with the emphasis on its natural and cultural heritage of global importance. Do you know when the exploration of the cave began? Can you imagine the life of a prehistoric man in the cave? Find these answers at the new exhibition in Postojna.

The Museumcultour Project is intended to promote the cultural heritage of museums and will take place simultaneously with the exhibition. By means of the project, the participating partners will organise and prepare new exhibitions, and also update and expand some of the existing ones. In doing so, project partners are following guidelines in an attempt to present the themes in an interesting and interactive way.
