The Ljubljana Tourism in collaboration with Water & Sewerage and the Museums & Galleries of Ljubljana created an interactive installation WOW. The installation was designed and created for Ljubljana and the Central Slovenia Region presentation at EXPO Milano 2015. Ljubljana highlighted two main themes: culinary delights and green Ljubljana.

The interactive installation WOW represents the appearance of the Ljubljana Tourism logo and promotes the idea of oxygen, cyclicality, drinking water and the expression of enthusiasm: “WOW”. The installation is 7 meters long with 2 meters high and 1,3 meter wide letters. It is made of aluminium and equipped with discreet and attractive LED lighting. With the help of water pumps, water gently waves inside the glazed letter O. When you approach the letter, you can even hear the soothing water murmur.

The letter W derives from the logo of the Tourism Ljubljana and the Central Slovenia Region. O represents oxygen, whereas in Ljubljana you are breathing better air and drink better water. Filled with water, the letter O raises awareness of acceptable drinking water, the year of water and Ljubljana as the winner of the flattering tittle - European Green Capital 2016. The installation illustrates Ljubljana as a “WOW” destination and promotes Ljubljana`s green values. The installation is not just an artistic creation but it is also an engaging item that invites visitors to climb on and take funny pictures.

The installation stood in front of the Slovenian pavilion from 18 June to 3 July Afterwards it was moved in front of the European Union pavilion at EXPO Milano, opposite the Italian pavilion. The European Commission and the management of the European Union pavilion recognized the installation as a creative addition to the setting of the EU pavilion which attracted many visitors and communicated an important massage. It is a great honour for Ljubljana to be the only European country which was able to promote itself as the European Green Capital 2016 in front of the European pavilion to the global public at EXPO 2015.

The interactive installation WOW will later move to the centre of Ljubljana, where it will welcome citizens, tourists and visitors and represent the green city vision.

The idea and the concept of the installation were created by the Tourism Marketing Agency Nea Culpa, Darijan Mihajlović Cerar was in charge of the design and Janez Draksler took care of its construction.
