The Soča River and Bohinj among most attractive destinations

Slovenia is becoming more and more attractive and recognisable. The 500px ISO community placed the Soča River among the most beautiful rivers in the world and composed a gallery of attractive photographs of this natural emerald beauty. Lonely Planet named the Alpine gem of Bohinj as one of the best European destinations for family holidays.

Years ago, the great Slovenian poet, Simon Gregorčič, described the Soča River with the following verse: “You are splendid, limpid daughter of the heights.” The magnificent emerald colour of this Alpine beauty is forever imprinted in one’s memory. Its pools, meanders and flow in the north-western Slovenia are full of good energy. Life evolves in colours here. The beauty of one of the most picturesque Alpine rivers in Europe was recognised also by the American news website, The Huffington Post, and the international photography community, 500px ISO. They both describe it as paradise for landscape photographers. The sports heart of the Soča River harbours adventures, such as rafting, kayaking, canyoning, mountain biking and hiking. Between mountains and the sea, the Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic Sea is winding on the trails of the Isonzo Front from the First World War offering stunning views. It seems that all the charms of nature are reflected in the emerald colour.

Lonely Planet placed the Alpine gem of Bohinj among 10 best places for family holidays in Europe for 2015. It is particularly attractive due to its pristine nature, countless possibilities for active spending of free time for the entire family and competitiveness of holiday providers. Catch the Hop-on Hop-off bus, which in the summer connects Bled, Bohinj, Pokljuka and Triglav National Park. A special experience is also a journey aboard a museum train. The steam train, and the train driver and conductor in old-fashioned uniforms, take you to Bohinj in the spirit of days gone by. Row across the calm surface of Lake Bohinj. The surrounding area makes a perfect location for road and mountain bikers and hikers. Visit the Savica Waterfall which feeds Lake Bohinj, while more experienced hikers can climb the highest Slovenian mountain, Triglav. Every Slovenian should conquer its 2,864-metre peak at least once in their life.
