The General Assembly of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) declared 27th September World Tourism Day. The theme of this year`s World Tourism Day is "One Billion Tourists, One Billion Opportunities". The World Tourism Organisation wants to emphasise the enormous potential of tourism for generating development, responsibility and wellbeing in communities around the world. Annually, more than one billion tourists decide to travel to foreign destinations. This reflects in the economy, which has made tourism a leading sector and a generator of 10% of global GDP. According to the statistics of the World Tourism Organisation, the number of international tourists exceeded one billion in total in 2012. Only together can we transform a billion tourists into a billion opportunities.
