Brda, the land of invigorating moments, is this year’s European Destination of Excellence. The European network of EDEN destinations, with over hundred partners, has now accepted Brda and 4 finalists (Bohinj, Radol`ca, Karst and Delicacies of Dolenjska). There are now 18 Slovenian destinations, achieving measurable European standards of excellence. The award ceremony took place on the Days of Slovenian Tourism on 13 October.

The expert committee from the Slovenian Tourist Board awarded Brda a winning European Destination of Excellence 2015. The award ceremony took place in October on the Days of Slovenian Tourism in Nova Gorica. Together with 4 finalists (Radovljica, Karst, Treats of Dolenjska and Bohinj), Brda joined the winning destinations of the previous years (Soča Valley, Solčavsko, the Kolpa river, Idrija and Laško) and entered the European network of EDEN destinations, which already has over hundred partners, including 18 Slovenian destinations.

“EDEN Network is an excellent example of good practice of networking and transferring knowledge between European tourist subjects, beside achieving other positive effects such as increasing the visibility of less developed tourist destinations, creating awareness of the diversity and quality of EU tourism, redirecting tourist flows to non-traditional destinations and rewarding sustainable forms of tourism – which is one of the main strategic directions of further development of the Slovenian Tourist Board”, said acting director of the Slovenian Tourist Board Maja Pak.
