Slovenia among the fastest growing tourist markets of Europe

International tourist arrivals in Europe have increased by 5% in recent months, reflecting the economic growth in the Eurozone and the popularity of Europe as a tourist destination. According to the European Travel Commission, Slovenia is among those destinations which recorded the greatest increase in visits by foreign tourists, by as much as 13%.

The European Travel Commission (ETC) published a report “European Tourism – Trends and Prospects”, describing steady growth in tourist arrivals and exceptional resilience to geopolitical unrest and economic growth in the Eurozone. The majority of European destinations recorded a positive result during the summer period in 2015, of which Slovenia recorded one of the highest increases in foreign tourist arrivals. The number of foreign tourist visits to Slovenia increased by 13% from January to August 2015, compared to the same period last year. The same data show a general 5% increase in tourist visits to Europe. This increase is a result of common efforts to fulfil Europe’s full potential as a tourist destination, welcoming a higher number of the biggest outgoing tourist markets, such as China and Russia, which are also key markets in Slovenian tourism. It is expected that the numbers will be even higher by the end of the year.
