Ladies’ Ski Jumping World Cup in Ljubno

What Planica is to Slovenian ski jumpers, Ljubno is to the elite competition of the World Cup Ski jumping for women. On 13-14 February the women will take over a renovated ski jump close to the Logar Valley in northern Slovenia. Put on your cheerleading props and cheer for your champion!

The skiing tradition in Ljubno began more than 70 years ago, when the local ski jumping club organised the first ski jumping competition. The first ski jump was built in 1953 and allowed jumps of up to 60 metres. In the nineties the ski jump was extended to 80 metres. In 2005, the locals renovated the ski jump according to the modern regulations of the FIS, and have been hosting ski jumping competitions for women at the highest level since 2006. In 2015, the local council of the Ljubno Municipality provided the resources for the construction of a new ski jump which is already finished and waiting for the ski jumpers.

Ljubno will host the Ladies` Ski Jumping World Cup on the 13th and 14th February. For the second year in a row, the FIS calendar has awarded Slovenia the female competition on Valentine’s Day. This nicely symbolizes the love and hard work of the organisers in facilitating the World Cup competitions at the highest level in the country, with this strong emotion even in its name (Ljubno means “beloved”). Come to Ljubno and heat up the atmosphere by cheering for the best female ski jumpers!

Continue your cheering mood at Planica for the final competition of the Ski Jumping World Cup for men. Will we witness a new world record? Find out between 17th and 20th March.
