Innovations in Slovenian tourism highlighted at OECD

The Slovenian Tourist Board presented award-winning innovations in tourism to the delegates of the OECD member countries. The Bank of Tourism Potentials in Slovenia serves as a platform for the collection, motivation, education and finance of small and medium-sized tourism businesses. Its main purpose is to support them through the “Snovalec” (The Inventor) award competition, which acknowledges innovative ideas which need financial and promotional support for their realisation. The selected case studies which won the Snovalec award will be the central topic of discussion at the next Committee on Tourism at the OECD meeting.

Since 2009, the Tourism Division at the SPIRIT public agency, and later the Slovenian Tourist Board in cooperation with the Bank of Tourism Potentials in Slovenia, have been encouraging the promotion and realization of the best ideas and practice in tourism with Snovalec award competitions. The main criteria for winning The Inventor Award are: the possibility of completing the tourism invention within a certain period of time, the alliance of the invention with the Slovenian environment and culture, and the probability of successful execution.

The project has already been presented to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and a detailed description of the project is now being prepared. Some of the most famous Inventors of Slovenian tourism are:

* the Garden Village Bled

* the Escape Igloo Enigmarium

* the Forest Selfness

* SnappGuides

* the Holiday houses of Slovenian Istria
