Foreign tourists arrivals increased by 14% in January 2016
Compared to January 2015, 14% more tourist arrivals and 11% more overnight stays were registered by Slovenian tourist accommodation in January 2016; 61% of the overnight stays were generated by foreign tourists, almost half by Italians and Croatians.

Compared to January 2015, 14% more tourist arrivals and 11% more overnight stays were registered by Slovenian tourist accommodation in January 2016; 61% of the overnight stays were generated by foreign tourists, almost half by Italians and Croatians. The most overnight stays were recorded in spa resorts, and the highest increase in tourist overnight stays was in Ljubljana.
In January 2016, 39% of all tourist overnight stays were registered in health (spa) resorts, 27% in mountain resorts, 10% in the capital of Ljubljana and 9% in seaside resorts. In Ljubljana the number of tourist overnight stays increased by 20%, in seaside resorts by 12%, and in mountain resorts and health (spa) resorts by 8% compared to January 2015.
In January 2016, 72% of tourist overnight stays were recorded in hotels, 7% in apartments and 5% in private accommodation. Compared to January 2015, the number of overnight stays increased in hotels by 11%.
In January 2016, foreign tourists generated 61% of tourist overnight stays in Slovenia. The key markets, which generated the most overnight stays of foreign tourists in Slovenia, were Italy (27%), Croatia (20%), Austria (9%), Serbia (7%), and the Russian Federation, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Hungary (each 4%). Tourists from Italy generated 15% more, from Austria 12% more and from Croatia 8% more overnight stays than in January 2015.
